Old school fathers in the Creole culture were traditional. Most believed their role was to work and provide, while women were tasked with home and children. It was a different time. But even with that, I remember my father pulling a dime from under my pillow as the tooth fairy. He was also Santa.  He taught us to play checkers, shoot pool and was a soft touch for tears. Happy Father’s Day to those who’ve passed on, like my father, and to my son, son-in-law, cousins, and friends—all who make “father,” a verb.#happyfathersday#fathers#dads#therealsanta
